OUR HISTORY

Three eras linked by one common denominator have marked the century long history of the Hotel Victoria Palace: the Pritelli Family proud owners of this Hotel for three generations. The Hotel first appeared on Cattolica beach as a small 12 room Liberty styled villa named ‘Villa Bruna’, which was inherited by the Ubalducci sisters who then married the Pritelli brothers. During the 1930’s it was called the Vittoria Guesthouse, while the modern eight storey building that we see today was developed between 1961 and 1963 by Gino Cervesi. It is an elaboration on an avant-garde concept, a unique creation in the area at that time which was then re-named the Victoria Palace. The hotel still continues to represent a symbol of style, and through its relationship with renowned architects has remained one of the major features of the Riviera. In 2005 the last pioneering restructuring entrusted to Vincenzo De Cotiis took place and through his unique style the hotel has been placed alongside the icons of design, characterized by sophisticated movement and lightness of its square shaped design.

Before the Second World War the hotel attracted many Polish and Czech tourists then in the 50’s and 60’s German holiday-makers started to arrive and the month of August saw the appearance of the English and Italians. In the 70’s the Riviera became the Saint Tropez of the Adriatic, the age of “la dolce vita”, Romagna style, to the delight of the paparazzi who day and night enthusiastically followed important celebrated personalities such as Gina Lollobrigida, Fred Bongusto, Walter Chiari, Vittorio Gassman, Ugo Tognazzi, Vittorio De Sica, Alberto Sordi, Rita Pavone and Mina. All artists who were part of the scene and who performed in night clubs like the Esedra in Cattolica, The Eden Rock and Mare Chiro in Gabicce and the Savioli in Riccione. An age, which starting at the latter end of those years paved the way to a great period in mass tourism.
